Cost, court, what happens next. If yours isn't here, call and ask — the consultation is free and I'll give you a straight answer either way.

WORKING WITH ME

Is the consultation really free?+

Yes — completely free and confidential, with no obligation. Call or text (281) 627-8152 any time, day or night. I'll tell you honestly what you're facing and what your options are, whether or not you hire me.

Do you offer payment plans?+

Yes. I work with clients on payment arrangements so that cost isn't the reason someone walks into court without a lawyer. Call and we'll work out something realistic for your situation.

How much does a criminal defense lawyer cost?+

It depends on the charge and how the case is likely to proceed — a Class C misdemeanor and a felony are very different amounts of work. I quote a flat fee up front in most cases so you know the cost before you commit, and I offer payment plans. The consultation to find out is free.

What should I bring to the first meeting?+

Whatever you have: bond paperwork, the citation, any police report, your next court date, and any photos or messages related to the case. If you don't have anything yet, come anyway — I can pull the case information.

Were you a public defender?+

Yes. I spent years as a public defender before opening my own practice, and I have 14 years in these courtrooms. That background means high case volume, real trial experience, and a working knowledge of how prosecutors in these counties actually operate.

WHAT I HANDLE

What kinds of cases do you handle?+

Criminal defense only — drug charges, assault and violent crimes, theft and property offenses, domestic violence, sexual assault, and DWI. I also file expunctions and orders of nondisclosure to clear or seal old records.

Which counties do you practice in?+

Montgomery, Harris, Fort Bend, Polk, and San Jacinto counties — including Conroe, Houston, The Woodlands, Spring, Katy, Sugar Land, Pasadena, Livingston, and Coldspring. My office is in downtown Conroe, minutes from the Montgomery County courthouse.

¿Habla español?+

Sí, se habla español. Ofrecemos consultas gratuitas y confidenciales en español, disponibles 24/7 al (281) 627-8152. Yes — free, confidential consultations are available in Spanish.

Can I call after hours or on the weekend?+

Yes. Arrests don't happen on business hours. Call or text (281) 627-8152 any time — nights, weekends, and holidays included.

YOUR CASE

Do I really need a lawyer for a first offense?+

A first offense is when a lawyer matters most, because it's the one time a clean record is still on the table. Diversion, deferred adjudication, and dismissal are real possibilities on first cases — but they aren't offered automatically, and once you've entered a plea, the options narrow permanently.

What happens at my first court date?+

Usually much less than people expect. The first setting is short and administrative — confirming who you are, who represents you, and setting the next date. Most first settings end in a reset so your attorney can obtain and review the evidence. Nothing is decided that day.

Should I just plead guilty to get it over with?+

Almost never before a lawyer has seen the evidence. Prosecutors make early offers because early offers are good for the State. Once you plead, the conviction is permanent and the options for keeping it off your record are largely gone.

Will I have to go to trial?+

Most cases don't reach trial — they resolve through dismissal, diversion, or negotiation. But cases resolve well precisely because the State knows the lawyer across from them is prepared to try it. I prepare every case as though it's going to a jury.

AFTER THE CASE

My case was dismissed. Can you get it off my record?+

Often, yes. A dismissal does not erase the arrest — it stays on your record and shows up on background checks until someone files to clear it. Depending on how your case ended, you may be eligible for an expunction or an order of nondisclosure. The eligibility check is free.
